Process Control and Optimization

Multi-species and TDL (Tuniable Diode Laser)

At AQMS GROUP we offer a comprehensive range of process instrumentation, Some of the equipment is doubled up as CEMS and we’ll help you select the most suitable analyzer for your needs. Beyond emission monitoring, we consider various industrial applications where different technologies may be more economical or efficient. These include laser diode (TDL), infrared (IR), opacity, optical, or electrochemical analyzers. Once we determine the best technology for your application, we’ll ensure you get the most out of the instrument, whether it’s for dosing or process optimization.Power generation / combustion industry.

Our intelligent instruments are also designed for seamless interplay with the larger world of industrial automation and control systems – enabling greater process transparency and smarter decisions for your business.

Possibilities for process control and emission monitoring

The gas analyser TDL consists of a central unit and up to three in situ optics housings. The connection between the central unit and the optics housing is established by a so-called hybrid cable, which contains optical fibres and copper wires. An additional cable connects the transmitter and receiver parts of the cross-duct optics housing. A major part of the benefits the in situ approach is introducing belongs to the simple fact that the measurement is performed non-intrusively and in real-time – without any disturbance or delay due to gas sampling or gas conditioning.

    Dust probes

Choosing the Right Dust Monitor: Light or back scatter, Triboelectric or Opacity

Monitoring air quality and emissions in industrial settings is crucial for environmental compliance and public health. Dust monitors play a pivotal role in measuring particulate matter released during various industrial processes. Understanding the differences between Optical or Triboelectric dust monitor types is essential to make an informed decision.

Triboelectric monitors are known for their robustness and reliability, even in challenging environments. They are less affected by factors such as humidity or smoke compared to optical monitors, making them a preferred choice in industries with harsh operating conditions. Additionally, these devices provide a cost-effective solution for continuous monitoring of particulate matter emissions. With their stability and minimal maintenance requirements, triboelectric monitors are ideal for applications where consistent and dependable measurements are crucial.

    Triboelectric particulate matter emissions monitors

Opacity provides a proven and recognized solution for the higher dust loadings found after unabated combustion processes or after Electrostatic Precipitators in the Power, Steel and Cement Industries.

Core Features of the Technology are:

    • Single pass measurement for simple opacity (colour) measurement.
    • Double pass measurement options for Compliance with US EPA PS-1 requirements.
    Opacity Dust Monitors

A light source, typically an LED, shines light through the particulate in a stack, and the amount of transmitted light is measured by a receiver. In a single-pass instrument, the receiver is mounted on the opposite side of the stack.

In contrast, a double-pass instrument (compliant with UP EPA PS-1) reflects the light back to the transceiver using a retro-reflector on the far side of the stack. Opacity instruments can be designed to measure two parameters:

    • First a measurement of the Stack Opacity (stack blackness) according to the simple equation:
      Opacity = 100 (1 – Received Light/ Transmitted Light) %
    • Secondly, a measure of the stack extinction which has a linear relationship with dust concentration for a particular type of dust and dust size:
Extinction = Natural Log (Received Light/ Transmitted Light)

    Light Scatter Probe

    Key Features:

      – Can be installed from one side, simplifying setup.

      – Suitable for very low to medium dust concentrations.

    Suitability:

      – Tested for compliance with EN 15267 standards.

      – Well-suited for thick and dual-wall channels.

      – Available in a Hastelloy version for use with corrosive gases.

      – Versions available for explosive zones 2/22 or 1/21.

    Maintenance:

      – Low-maintenance with features like self-monitoring and contamination monitoring.

      – Automated zero and reference point checks ensure accuracy.

    Duct Compatibility:

      – Designed for small to medium duct diameters.

      – No alignment required for installation, allowing for quick and straightforward setup.

Designed with ease of use and durability in mind, particularly for challenging environments where maintenance and accuracy are crucial.
